You Steady My Heart

View This Painting in the Sale Gallery

A few months back, I was blessed to have a solo show at the Janette Kennedy Gallery. It was mostly a new body of work titled, “Old Paths Lead to New Journey’s”. It succeeded my expectations…Blessed!

One of the most exciting part of art for me, is what others see, what is revealed, what emotion is evoked through the canvas to the eye. I love the comments.

Recently, I received a text from someone who purchased a piece at the show. She included a photo of the piece….”DO YOU SEE IT?” I looked and studied, as I didn’t know what she was seeing, that I couldn’t. Finally, she said…the bell, the bell…. Do You See It?

When she was looking at the piece in the gallery,  she liked it, thought about it, walked away, looked at others, but the above piece kept drawing her back…it wasn’t until hanging in her loft did she see the bell! She owns a business named, Opening Bell !! So often a painting reveals something to the viewer that others do not see, even the artist!!

This is often the case with the world, with people. Can you see it? Often the human eye cannot see it… but God sees what others cannot see. God looks at the heart. We often look at the outside, the circumstances, the turmoil, the hurt, the devastation. God sees healing, restoration, peace, greatness…

God uses misfits, screw ups, outcasts…to name a few…Jonah ran from God, Moses ran from justice, Sarah lost hope, Rahab ran a brothel, Lot ran with the wrong crowd…He had a plan for each of them. He saw what others could not imagine. Then there was a young gangly smelly shepherd that God chose to defeat a giant and become a great king. Along the way he ran into  adultery, murder and much turmoil, anguish, and heartache…David became one of the greatest examples of God’s love, mercy, forgiveness, restoration and redemption. Hope for us to follow. David was a man after God’s own heart but he was also a man. He messed up and failed often. But, he always turned back to God and God was always there to lift him up. Some of the most beautiful words were penned by David throughout his trials and triumphs.  Check out some of the most beautiful in the book of Psalms.

Take a few minutes to read and listen to the below…it’s a reminder of our hope, our promise, our redemption and His grace.

1 Samuel 16:7 The Message (MSG)

But God told Samuel, “Looks aren’t everything. Don’t be impressed with his looks and stature. I’ve already eliminated him. God judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; God looks into the heart.”

Today’s Melody…

Check out the below song on YouTube…below is an excerpt.

Drops In The Ocean by Hawk Nelson

I want you as you are not as you ought to be
Won’t you lay down your guard and come to me
The shame that grips you now is crippling
It breaks my heart to see you suffering
‘Cause I am for you
I’m not against you

If you wanna know how far my love can go
Just how deep
Just how wide
If you wanna see how much you mean to me
Look at my hands
Look at my side
If you could count the times I’d say you are forgiven
It’s more than the drops in the ocean, ooh ooh
The drops in the ocean, woah
I am for you
I’m not against you
I am for you
I’m not against you

Blessings and hugs…
