The above painting is from a photo I snapped in October 2011 during a workshop at the Dallas Arboretum with artist, Niki Gulley. It was the perfect autumn day in Texas. If you live near Dallas, please go visit the Arboretum, Dallas Blooms is in full swing with beautiful spring flowers! I hope to go soon, while everything is in full bloom.
I love spring. I’m not much of a winter person, the cold and I do not mesh well. I’m actually a tropical type, I just love the perfect temperature, the perfect blue sky, and days with no humidity! That’s not asking for much….!! And, I live in Texas, go figure… where we can have all four seasons in a week, sometimes in a day!!
We’ve been working in the yard, cleaning out the dead foliage that didn’t make it through the winter. and planting new flowers and herbs. Fertilizing and treating the yard. The grass is shooting up from it’s dormant state and before long, the lawn mowers will be revving up.
I think sometimes our faith goes into a dormant stage. It is there, just lying still and hibernating. When everything is sunny and bright we just roll along. Then a storm blows through and our faith is blown around, trampled, and sometimes broken. But like our carefully tended garden, our faith will weather the storm and be stronger if it is well tended. The fertilizer for our faith is prayer and God’s word. So, keep your faith growing and strong…through prayer, devotions, bible studies, fellowship with believers. And, when the storm does blow through, the roots of faith are strong enough to stand.
Blessings and hugs….

Song of Solomon 2:11-13
English Standard Version (ESV)
11 for behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. 12 The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing[a] has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. 13 The fig tree ripens its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance. Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away.
