I had so much fun painting this pear. I set up two pears for reference. But, during the course of painting, I became hungry. I did not want to stop and take time to fix something to eat, so I took a bite of one of the props and savored the sweetness of the fruit. I thought this is so delicious. Hence, the name! My granddaughter, Mackey, use to say, Nanny, this is “licious”, another reason for the name. I hope PEARlicious brings a smile to your face and the urge to buy delicious seasonal fresh fruit to savor. Don’t be so busy that you can’t take time to savor the fruit of the journey on the way to your destination.
Denny and I have very different philosophies about travel. Me – I can be packed and ready in ten minutes. Travel is my passion. I yearn to see new places, acquaint myself with different cultures, revisit some of my favorites, discover new things. Denny is more of a one or two trips a year, golf trips with his buds, beach trips, but his passion is hitting the road in Kermit-his beloved motorhome. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love traveling in the rv. We have had some amazing road trips including ones with family and friends and lots of memorable tailgate parties.
But, my favorite mode-air travel-gets me to my destination quicker. I can start savoring new places, people, and adventure. Denny’s favorite mode-rv’ing-allows the savoring of the journey along the way to the destination.
Isn’t that how we live life? Speeding through everyday without taking the time to savor precious moments we will miss and never get back. Wishing for Friday on Monday?! Most of us live our life through a calendar of events, commitments, and appointments .
Some things are a given, a necessity but how much is just filling up space on a calendar? I often say, “I’m so blessed to be busy” and I am. But, I also say, “I am so tired”. I need to stop and reflect and see what is keeping me so busy. Is my busyness resulting in “good tired” or sheer exhaustion?
Am I so busy getting to my destination that I totally miss the beauty of the journey?
Make sure your busyness results in “good tired” not just filler on a calendar. Take time to savor the fruit of your labor.
Blessings and hugs…..
