The above painting was a quick study from a photograph. The challenge for myself this month is to paint everyday, something that speaks love to me. The photo was taken on a trip last fall to Mexico. One of my loves, is to have coffee on the balcony overlooking the ocean. So, I’d place an order for coffee to arrive in the morning (I’m not a happy camper until I have my first cup of java, trust me!!) and the tray always included a little vase with a rose. The flowers were so beautiful, I decided to keep them in the room, when the tray was picked up. They just added joy to the room.
The room didn’t need any more adornment. The view was beauty enough. But, the little vases with the single rose just brought joy.
Now, would I love to wake up every day with the view out my window of the brilliance of the blue ocean or majestic mountains….YES! But, since that is not possible, I look around and find joy in my everyday life. It may be flowers, a hug, a call, a laugh. Last night it was a precious little boy. While Denny was getting food for church, I viewed through the windshield, a family sitting down with their dinner. The little boy folded his little hands and bowed his head, as his dad prayed over their food. We never know when we may be the joy in someone’s day.
If you look, you can find a smile in the simple things.
We can fill our lives with the big things, lots of the big things, etc but sometimes it is just a small little vase filled with a single flower that brings us joy.
Blessings and hugs…

31-32 Another story. “God’s kingdom is like a pine nut that a farmer plants. It is quite small as seeds go, but in the course of years it grows into a huge pine tree, and eagles build nests in it.”
