Shades of Orange
6 x 18
oil on linen board
On the above painting, I broke out of my usual pattern of using paint straight out of the tube. The above painting is created mostly from paints mixed, not straight from the tube. Shades of Orange is the result of yellow ochre, cadmium orange, brilliant red and a dot of white. I think it turned out well! What do you think?
Routine is comfortable. Routine can become a “rut”, boring. But, we still find comfort in the same thing because we know what to expect.
We, as a people, are creatures of habit. We become so accustomed to our pattern. Let something vere us off course and we are all messed up. Food, restaurants, clothes, shoes, news channel, vacations, nail color(!!)….creature of habits. We stick to what we know is good, what is comfortable, what we like. But, what are we missing?
I also catch myself painting the same thing….flowers…sunflowers, pears. I have tons of paintings in my head but I tend to paint the same thing….creature of habit.
I think we find comfort in “the norm…habits” but it can also become too routine. Step outside the lines, try something new, push the boundaries….you can always return to the comfort zone. But, you may be surprised and find a new “habit”.
Blessings and hugs…
